Background:
Fashion icon Vivienne Westwood has her flagship menswear store on Conduit Street, London. It is filled with edgy, dishevelled ensembles in hard fabrics, accessorised with gloriously strappy boots and jewellery carrying her trademark orb motif.
Concepts:
Working with Darren Turrell of éstudio, the brief was to utilise an unused underfloor chamber at the rear of the store. Our solution was to create an organic chamber for the new Spring/Summer collection to grow out of and take over the rear part of the store. Taking the aesthetic of the new clothing range we created a sub-tropical environment using digital screens (as Victorian style windows) with period animations that give a glimpse of this exotic world outside.
Main floor above the chamber.
A large tree would be the central focus of the space as it protrudes through the glass floor with samples of the new collection hanging off. Wall mounted imagery, plants and other pieces of tree branches would complete the environmental take over, whilst maintaining space for fitting and store furniture.
As customers peer down into the chamber, exotic birds and plants can be seen in motion; to give the impression that there is a world outside through the windows (animated screens). Selected items from the new collection will be strategically scattered on the white gravel floor. Other exotic plants will and wooden branches will also be placed to giving the space a lush, tropical feel.
